I’ve been studying jQuery for the past month or so, trying to learn its ins and outs. The new portfolio page is a reflection of that, with an image gallery built using several jQuery libraries. I love the fact that I can create all these fluid Flash-like effects with just JavaScript.

Texturize

I came across a Livejournal community today call Texturize which surprisingly I hadn’t heard of before. Textured icons, stock photos of interesting textures, etc… I love this type of stuff. I used to love taking a blank image of about 10px by 10px and then seeing what type of interesting repeating patterns I could create with such a small canvas. That was about… 6 or 7 years ago? It’s been a long while. I have a tendency nowadays to design with solid blocks of color in CSS or taking large graphics and manipulating them. But working with small segments of textures is interesting because they can make a small block of real estate on a page go a long way.

Just wanted to share. :)

Site Is Live—And Very Beta.

Finally I have something somewhat resembling a site up and running. This is still very much in the beginning stages—bare bones.

Ideally, this site will also include my portfolio, blog entries regarding what I’m up to and interesting news on web design I’ve come across, information on my services, and whatever little interesting tidbits and gadgets I find or come up with.

But for now, here we are.
